Position Purpose

Provide daily logistics support for import and global sourcing department.

Essential Functions

1. Provide daily logistics support for import and global sourcing department.

2. Work in a team environment and be responsible for coordinating and supporting the daily flow of import orders and goods from foreign origins to Variety Wholesalers, Inc. distribution centers.

3. Coordinate all aspects of the process between our merchants, broker, vendors, and ocean carriers for all import purchases.

4. Manage the lifecycle of an international purchase order through the logistics process ensuring the required documentation, customs classification and duty are all in compliance with U.S. Customs, other government agency regulations, and the Company’s policies and procedures.

5. Liaison between the broker and buyer to ensure all required documents are submitted on time for cargo clearance, including product data for HTS classification and other compliance related issues.

6. Audit, approve and send invoices to Accounts Payable for payment to ensure import freight invoices are paid in a timely and accurate manner.

7. Maintain an accurate, updated HTS database and forward to broker/forwarder.

8. Maintain all import classification, compliance, and billing documentation for customs inquiries or requests.

9. Audit and approve all discrepant document presentations for payment to vendors by our bank under both L/C and Open Account terms.

10. Handle shipment booking review and approvals (via email) from forwarder/broker and communicate with the merchandising team regarding any changes/revisions to shipments and order delivery.

11. Maintain all import documentation for Free Trade and other special import programs.

12. Utilize the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Code of Federal Regulations ensuring all products comply with CBP regulations.

Ancillary Functions

Assist Director, International Logistics with special projects; as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• High School diploma; Associate or College Degree preferred in Business related field
• 2-5 years in related retail, brokerage, 3PL, or ocean carrier environment
• Demonstrated proficiency with applicable software; including Word and Excel
• Knowledge of logistics terminology (vessel booking, LCL, etc.)
• Previous knowledge of import process and fundamentals including HTS classification
• Detail oriented
• Strong communication, analytical, and math skills
• Team-oriented work style

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,541.73 - $46,415.84 per year
